The list of terms which have to be double checked is at the very end of this page

A term (TextTerm) to be double checked is discussed in the talk page corresponding to the page using it. Thus the list is a list of talk pages.

The harmonization process

This category is added to any Talk Page of a page (i.e. [10], [11], ... [92]) when a "missing term" has been detected by the robot: http://www.demopaedia.org/tools/spip.php?page=missing_terms&lang=en&edition=en-ii where the edition has to be changed according to your language and edition.

The banner {{To be checked}} has to been inserted manually on top of the corresponding Talk Page.

This banner remains until all missing terms have been checked.

Missing terms are described with their original language, for example:

Here two terms are missing 102-8 and 104-7. The first one conjoncture démographique existed in the French second edition of 1981; it belongs to paragraph 102 of the printed book, itself belonging to section (or page) 10 of chapter 1. The second term 104-7 did not appear in any main second editions French (1981), English (1982) and Spanish (1985) but only in the German printed edition of 1987. In order to make a visual distinction between the original printed edition and the unified edition, we use the NewTextTerm template.

Thus, once you know how to translate the missing term, you have two things to do

• Insert the new sentence in the page itself, using TextTerm for the new term if your language has never been published or NewTextTerm if not;
• change the template from missing to translated:

Your can add comments with proper indentation (see Help:Using_talk_pages on Wikipedia) and must sign with --~~~~

• If you think that the demographic expression can't be translated, just replace missing by untranslatable.

Once all the missing TextTerms of a page are either translated or untranslatable, the banner To be checked can be replaced by the banner Double checked if all terms have been double checked by an other member.

Detailed explanations of the TextTerm template

Let us take the example of paragraph 102 of the English volume:

In descriptive demography³ the numbers, geographical distribution, structure and change of human populations are described by means of population statistics⁴ or demographic statistics⁴.

The text was originally entered as:

In {{TextTerm|descriptive demography|3}} the numbers...

this was simple and will still work. But for producing a nice printed book, we are asking to enter additional arguments to the TextTerm (or NewTextTerm) template.

At first, in the case of synonyms like in the above example, 'population statistics' and 'demographic statistics' have the same number 4 we can make a distinction by adding a '|2' to the second TextTerm:

...are described by means of {{TextTerm|population statistics|4|102}} or {{TextTerm|demographic statistics|4|102|2}} .

OtherIndexEntry

The term 'population statistics' must be also entered as 'statistics, population' in the index. Therefore, you must enter the 'named parameter' OtherIndexEntry:

... human populations are described by means of {{TextTerm|population statistics|4|102|OtherIndexEntry=statistics, population}} or {{TextTerm|demographic statistics|4|102|2|OtherIndexEntry=statistics, demographic}} .

And if you have many entries, you can number them OtherIndexEntryTwo, OtherIndexEntryThird etc. It is a very boring but important work.

IndexEntry

In many languages, like in Europe, index entries must be entered in the nominative and singular form. For most language it is still not possible for any computer to deduce automatically the nominative, therefore if the term used in the text is not correct for an index it is asked to enter the nominative form in a 'named parameter' IndexEntry:

Summary of parameters of NewTextTerm or TextTerm

In summary the syntax of the NewTextTerm template is:

{{TextTerm|term|note#|paragraph#|sequence#|IndexEntry=term in the nominative form|OtherIndexEntry=|OtherIndexEntryTwo=|}}.

1. term: term or expression as it should appear in the text. It will be displayed in bold face.
2. note#: note numer. It will be displayed as an exponent.
3. paragraph#: it is the number of the paragraph (101 etc.);
4. sequence#: if two or more terms of the text (TextTerm or NewTextTerm) have the same note number, this sequence number must be entered (2, 3, etc.) in order to distinguish them.
5. IndexEntry=: the term in the nominative form must be entered if it is different from the 'term'.
6. OtherIndexEntry=: please enter another possible entry for the index.
7. OtherIndexEntryTwo=: please enter a second possible entry for the index.
8. OtherIndexEntryThree=: please enter a third possible entry for the index.
9. OtherIndexEntryFour=: please enter a fourth possible entry for the index.
10. EnglishEntry=: is used for Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
11. EnglishOriginal= is used for Korean but is not displayed.
